SLCPD Provides Update to Weekend Homicide Investigations

SALT LAKE CITY — Today, the Salt Lake City Police Department is providing an update on the two homicide investigations that began on Friday, November 15, 2024.

The first homicide investigation began at 11:41 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, when SLC911 received information about a shooting that just occurred near 1045 East 2100 South.

The 26-year-old man who died is identified as Oscar Moreno.

After conducting multiple interviews with involved parties and witnesses, detectives released all individuals detained as part of the investigation.

SLCPD detectives will continue their investigation and will work with the district attorney’s office to determine whether the use of deadly force in this case was a justifiable act of self-defense or defense of others.

The second homicide investigation began at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, when SLC911 received information about a shooting that just occurred near 800 South Park Street.

The 21-year-old man who died is identified as Maxwell Rodgers.

The 53-year-old man who died is identified as Charlie Poulsen.

Both cases remain under investigation by the SLCPD’s Homicide Squad.

Anyone with information about these cases, is asked to call 801-799-3000.
