SLCPD Provides Update to Weekend Homicide InvestigationsSALT LAKE CITY — Today, the Salt Lake City Police Department is providing an update on the two homicide investigations that began on Friday, November 15, 2024. The 26-year-old man who died is identified as Oscar Moreno. After conducting multiple interviews with involved parties and witnesses, detectives released all individuals detained as part of the investigation. SLCPD detectives will continue their investigation and will work with the district attorney’s office to determine whether the use of deadly force in this case was a justifiable act of self-defense or defense of others. The 21-year-old man who died is identified as Maxwell Rodgers. The 53-year-old man who died is identified as Charlie Poulsen. Detectives believe, based on the available information at this time, that Poulsen shot Rodgers, went back into his (Poulsen’s) apartment, and then died by suicide. Both cases remain under investigation by the SLCPD’s Homicide Squad. Anyone with information about these cases, is asked to call 801-799-3000. The information contained in this news release is based on a preliminary review of the details available to the Salt Lake City Police Department.
