SLCPD Investigating Deadly Motorcycle Crash in Ballpark Neighborhood

SALT LAKE CITY — Officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash involving a pickup in the Ballpark neighborhood.

This investigation started at 6:14 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, when SLC911 received a call about a traffic crash at 1700 South State Street.

Paramedics arrived and found the motorcyclist in critical condition. Paramedics took the man to the hospital, where he later died.

Based on the preliminary information, the motorcyclist, traveling south, and the pickup, turning left from State Street to westbound 1700 South, collided.

The specific cause of the crash is under investigation.

This crash marks the second traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City for 2025.

The Collision Analysis & Reconstruction (CAR) Team and SLCPD Crime Lab technicians responded to the scene.

The Salt Lake City Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CAR) Unit, part of a multi-jurisdictional task force, specializes in investigating crashes with severe injuries or death in the Salt Lake Valley. SLCPD CAR detectives are highly trained in areas such as collision examination, speed analysis, vehicle dynamics, and evidence collection. They meticulously map crash scenes, analyze vehicle and occupant movement, and manage cases from evidence collection to prosecution.
