SLCPD Investigating Deadly Industrial Incident at Delta Cargo FacilitySALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) is investigating a deadly industrial incident involving a commercial vehicle at the Delta Cargo parking lot. This investigation began, at approximately 5:48 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, when emergency dispatchers received information about an industrial incident at 3622 West 510 North. Officers from the SLCPD Airport Division responded and assisted with emergency first aid. Despite life-saving efforts, the man died at the scene. Based on the preliminary investigation, a commercial-sized truck was backing up when it hit the man, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground. The truck involved is not believed to be a Delta Cargo There are no known impacts to airport or airline operations related to this incident. At this time, no information about the man who died is available for release, pending next-of-kin notification. The SLCPD Collision Analysis Reconstruction (CAR) Team is leading the investigation. Media staging is located at 3700 West 510 North. A SLCPD Public Information Officer (PIO) is on scene to assist with parking and media coordination. The Salt Lake City Police Department’s Airport Division provides law enforcement services at Salt Lake City International Airport—Utah’s largest airport. The division includes a full-time K9 Squad. Officers patrol terminals, parking areas, and surrounding airport property to deter crime, respond to emergencies, and enforce laws. TSA-trained Explosive Detection K9 teams assist with suspicious item calls and regular patrols. Detectives handle crimes such as theft, vandalism, and in-flight incidents, and work closely with federal partners. The division also supports the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force to stay informed of potential threats. The Collision Analysis Reconstruction (CAR) Team and SLCPD Crime Lab technicians responded to the scene. The Salt Lake City Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CAR) Unit investigates serious crashes involving severe injuries or death across the Salt Lake Valley. As part of a multi-jurisdictional task force, CAR detectives are specially trained in collision analysis, vehicle dynamics, speed calculations, and evidence collection. They carefully map crash scenes, analyze vehicle movement, and manage cases through to prosecution. Their work ensures accurate investigations and strong collaboration with regional law enforcement partners.
