What is suspicious activity

There are a great many people, things and situations which you may consider to be “Suspicious”. Any situation or occurrence which may seem “out of place” or “unusual”, that happens in your neighborhood, (at any time of the day) could be suspicious activity. Trust your natural intuition, if something you’re seeing makes you feel uncomfortable or you believe it to be wrong…it probably is!!!

ONE OF OUR ROLES AS GOOD NEIGHBORS IS TO REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITIES OCCURRING IN OUR COMMUNITY TO THE POLICE.

No one knows your neighborhood better then you. Your call might provide the information needed to assist in solving a crime.

Suspicious activities:

• Someone entering unoccupied or vacant homes.
• A stranger entering your neighbor’s residence while they are away.A scream or yell for help. Anyone peering into parked vehicles.
• Anyone tampering or removing parts license plates or gasoline from vehicles
• The sound of breaking glass.  Someone being forced into a vehicle.
• Anyone loitering in your neighborhood or around the neighborhood parks.
• Anyone running through your neighborhood carrying items of value.

Not so obvious suspicious activities:

•  Juveniles walking or cutting through the neighborhood backyards.
• People soliciting door to door in your neighborhood especially if one or more walk around the rear of the residence.
• Observing flashlights in a darkened or vacant home. A person displaying unusual behavior or attempting to hide an object.
• Heavy traffic to and from a certain residence, staying for short periods of time, on a daily basis.
• People selling merchandise from vehicles.
• Occupied vehicles parked for no purpose

Obviously, not everyone who comes into your neighborhood is going to be a criminal.Legitimate sales and repair people appear in residential areas quite frequently.

However, criminals will disguise themselves as these types of workers to assist in committing their criminal acts.  Therefore you must remain aware and alert of these activities so you don’t become a victim.

Immediately contact the police department to conduct an investigation of any person suspected of committing or attempting to commit a crime
