Posted: July 2, 2013 — Salt Lake City Police Chief Chris Burbank invites the public to tour the new Public Safety Building in his monthly video message posted today:

“This state-of-the-art facility enables city government, police, fire and emergency management to come together and actually work in the event of a disaster,” Chief Burbank said. “You will see the support system that holds this building in place, in the event of an earthquake.”

Located at 475 S. 300 E., the new Public Safety Building will be unrestricted during public tour hours. The public will be able to see the new work environment that will foster better investigations in a number of ways, chief among which is the location of all detectives on the same floor.

“As a robbery occurs, very rarely does that not involve narcotics or even potentially the homicide unit,” Burbank explained. “Now they’re able to share that information and actually work better to solve crime and prevent it from occurring.”
