SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is pleased to announced the results of the seventh annual Student Art Contest:
First Place: | Quincy Bowen | West High School | $2,500 scholarship, MacBook Air |

Third Place: | Rebekah Sandstrom | West High School | iPad Mini |
Fourth Place: | Ben Randle | Highland High School | iPod Touch |
Honorable Mention: | Ally Curzon | Highland High School | Nikon Coolpix |
Fan Favorite: | Dominique Davis | Highland High School | iPad Mini |
The police department will use the winning entry to raise awareness among teens about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. Look for the public service campaign later this summer between features at local movie theaters.
Many thanks to this year’s contest supporters, including:
- Salt Lake City School District, whose teachers embrace the contest as a way to engage students on a difficult topic and foster their higher education goals
- SLCPD’s School Resource Officers, who went to classes to talk about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse and encourage students to enter the contest
- City Library, which hosts the awards ceremony and finalists exhibit at its main branch
- Salt Lake Film Society, which will host an exhibit of the Top 25 finalists at the Broadway Theater
- Art Institute of Salt Lake City, which has created student tutorials for the contest and will now create short videos for the public service campaign featuring Bowen’s art work
- Salt Lake City Police Foundation, which funds the contest
