SALT LAKE CITY – Approximately 600 books will be given to light and non-readers as part of Salt Lake City’s World Book Night celebration Wednesday, April 23 — the day Shakespeare would have turned 450.
Volunteers will join with the Salt Lake City’s Mayor’s Office, Police and Fire Departments, the Homeless Outreach Service Team (HOST) and the City Library to mark the Bard’s birthday by sharing books with light- and non-readers throughout the city.

Salt Lake City has chosen to participate in World Book Night through HOST, a partnership designed to connect various service providers with people experiencing homelessness in our community. City staff and community volunteers will visit clients at various service sites, including the Salt Lake City School District Community Learning Centers, Crossroads Urban Center, Fourth Street Clinic, Palmer Court, Sorenson Unity Center, the Heartland Youth Center and other locations.
