SALT LAKE CITY— Chief Burbank and members of the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force for the Greater Salt Lake Area invite reporters to discuss violent crime numbers and causes Tuesday morning, a day before the start of a conference that will see 200 law enforcement professionals gather to share case studies and best practices on the subject.

“Although nationwide we’re seeing a continued decline in violent crime, we are seeing spikes along the Wasatch Front, especially in bank robberies fueled in large part by a perpetrator’s heroin addiction,” according to Chief Burbank. “The conference this week will help to elevate investigative standards and connect dots, because violent crime is not confined to any one jurisdiction.”
