SLCPD Chief Mike Brown Hosts Opioid Prevention Roundtable

 SALT LAKE CITY, UT — Salt Lake City Police Chief Mike Brown will be hosting a roundtable discussion with service providers and health care administrators from across Utah today. The focus of this roundtable is to discuss Medicaid-funded programs and services that are helping curb the opioid epidemic.

Chief Brown will also release a new report from Fight Crime: Invest in Kids. The report is titled “Opioids are Destroying Our Nation’s Health”. Fight Crime: Invest in Kids is a bipartisan, anti-crime organization composed of 5,000 police chiefs, sheriffs, prosecutors, and violence survivors nationwide.

“People don’t look at healthcare as a crime prevention tool,” said Chief Mike Brown. “But, it is crucial to treating and preventing future opioid abuse.”
