Chief Mike Brown Elected Second Vice President
of Major Cities Chiefs Association

SALT LAKE CITY — Chief Mike Brown has been elected as the Second Vice President of the Major Cities Chiefs Association, an influential professional organization of police executives representing the largest cities in the United States and Canada.

“I am extremely proud for this opportunity to serve as Vice President of the MCCA,” said Chief Mike Brown. “It is humbling and an honor to be elected and I am looking forward to working with the best police leaders in North America.”

Chief Mike Brown joined the Salt Lake City Police Department in 1991. He was appointed Chief of Police on May 3, 2016, after serving as the Interim Police Chief since June 11, 2015.

The Major Cities Chiefs Association provides a unique forum for urban police, sheriffs and other law enforcement chief executives to discuss common problems, to share information and problem-solving strategies. MCCA articulates the public safety needs of large cities in the formulation of criminal justice policy.

“Chief Brown has shown exceptional leadership and I am looking forward to his continued work in support of the Association,” said Laura Cooper, Executive Director of the Major Cities Chiefs Association. “He is extremely knowledgeable and his steady commitment to the Association is commendable. I look forward to our continued work together.”
