SLCPD Investigating Potential Aggravated Assault
SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating a potential aggravated assault and is requesting the community’s help developing information on this case.
This investigation started at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Sunday February 6, 2022 when Salt Lake City Police officers received information about an adult female with a neck injury. Officers arrived on scene and located the woman and found her with a critical injury and bleeding heavily near 850 South West Temple.
First responders provided emergency first aid and paramedics transported the woman to an area hospital in critical condition. Doctors upgraded the patient’s condition to critical but stable after emergency surgery.
Initially, officers couldn’t determine what caused the woman’s injury. Officers established a crime scene as part of their investigation and began speaking with witnesses. The on-scene incident commander notified SLCPD detectives who immediately responded to assist with the investigation.
During the investigation, the woman told SLCPD she let someone inside her residence. The woman described the man as being homeless. There’s no information at this time that indicates the woman or alleged assailant knew each other. The suspect, an unknown male, reportedly attacked the woman and then fled the residence.
There is no further information to be released at this time pending the ongoing investigation.
Detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Robbery Squad have been assigned the case and are conducting investigative follow-up.
When the SLCPD is able to provide a description of the alleged assailant, that information will be provided.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call 801-799-3000 and reference case number 22-22409
