SLCPD Announces Third Arrest in General Drive Homicide

SALT LAKE CITY — Today, the Salt Lake City Police Department announced a third person, a 16-year-old male, is charged in connection with the shooting that killed 21-year-old Sean Amone.

This investigation started on June 6, 2021, when Salt Lake City Police responded to the area of 1300 North General Drive after receiving reports of shots fired. Responding officers located Amone deceased and four other males with gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported all four victims to area hospitals in critical condition.

The suspects fled the scene prior to officers arriving.

Detectives assigned to the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Homicide Squad and Crime Lab and Evidence Unit responded and started an immediate investigation.

On June 8, 2021, SLCPD Homicide Detectives arrested a 15-year-old male who is one of the suspected shooters responsible for Amone’s death.

On July 13, 2021, detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Homicide Squad booked a then 16-year-old male into a metro-area juvenile detention center on an unrelated matter.

During the course of the investigation, detectives worked with the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office to file charges related to the homicide in February 2022.

Because the suspect is a minor, no additional information is being released, including the charges filed against him.

Last month, the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office filed a one-count charging instrument against 19-year-old Felix Issara for his alleged involvement in the Amone homicide. Issara is now in custody.

The June 6, 2021 shooting is an active homicide investigation with regular investigative follow-up being conducted.

The Salt Lake City Police Department continues to provide regular updates and victim advocacy and support to the family members affected by this shooting.

Anyone with information on this shooting should call 801-799-3000 and reference case number 21-96966.

Charges are only allegations, and every arrested person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

No further information on this case is being released. Neither the PIO nor the On-Duty Watch Commander is available for interviews.
