SLCPD Investigating Fatal Rollover CrashSALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating a rollover crash that killed a man. This investigation started at 1:59 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022 when SLC911 received information about a rollover crash involving a single car near 4000 West 2100 North, which is near the Salt Lake City International Airport. Responding officers and paramedics arrived and located the man and provided immediate life-saving efforts but the driver died on scene. There were no other occupants in the car. Officers secured the crash scene and called out the Crash Analysis Reconstruction (CAR) Team. Based on the preliminary information, detectives believe the driver lost control of his car while traveling westbound on 2100 North. The car left the road and rolled several times before coming to a stop a long distance away. Speed likely played a factor in the crash, but the investigation is in the early stages. This crash marks the 17th traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City for 2022. The Crash Analysis Reconstruction (CAR) Team and SLCPD Crime Lab technicians responded to the scene. The CAR Team is a multi-jurisdictional crash team that investigates crashes involving serious physical injuries or death. Members of the CAR Team receive specialized training in collision examination, speed analysis, vehicle dynamics, occupant kinematics, scene photography, surveying equipment, crash scene mapping, evidence collection and computer aided drawing programs. The CAR Team includes law enforcement from the Salt Lake City Police Department and several other Salt Lake Valley law enforcement agencies. A PIO responded to the scene and provided media with regular updates. The identity and age of the man will not be released until next-of-kin notifications are made. Three photos of the crash scene are being released. No other information can be released at this time.
