SLCPD Conducting Homicide Investigation, Tips Sought

 

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation and is requesting help from the community.

This investigation started at 8:25 a.m. Monday September 12, 2022, when SLC911 received information that a community member found an unconscious person on the ground near 400 South 600 West.

Officers responded with the assistance of Salt Lake City Fire and Gold Cross and determined the person was not alive.

Due to suspicious circumstances, the SLCPD Homicide Squad responded to investigate. The case was not initially classified as a homicide, pending further investigation and assistance from the Office of the Medical Examiner.

Patrol officers, working with detectives, searched the area for video cameras and witnesses.

As part of the investigation, the SLCPD Crime Lab responded to document the scene and collect and preserve any evidence.

An autopsy recently conducted by the Office of the Medical Examiner determined the person’s death to be a homicide.

The victim’s name, age and gender are not being released at this time pending identification confirmation and family notification.

The victim is an adult.

The SLCPD will not comment on the circumstances that made the death suspicious.

No arrests have been made.

This case marks the 11th homicide for 2022 in Salt Lake City.
