SLCPD Investigating Bomb Threat at East High SchoolSALT LAKE CITY — After an extensive search of the East High School campus, Salt Lake City Police have determined the campus to be safe after an earlier bomb threat. This investigation started mid-morning on December 09, 2022, when an unknown person made a bomb threat towards East High School. A SLCPD School Resource Officer (SRO) already on campus began coordinating with East High School administrators and school district officials. The school district made the determination to evacuate the school and end the day early. Additional SROs and SLCPD patrol officers responded to the school and helped establish a reunification center at a nearby church. Members of the Salt Lake City Police Department’s K9 Squad responded to conduct a search. These K9s and their handlers have extensive training in detecting explosive material. The K9 Squad and SROs conducted an extensive search of the school campus. Officers determined the campus to be safe and operations were returned to the school district. During the investigation, officers closed 1300 East in between 800 South and 900 South. All road closures have been lifted. The Salt Lake City Police Department is receiving assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on this case. There is no suspect information.
