SLCPD Patrol Officers Arrest Kidnapping Fugitive

SALT LAKE CITY — Today, patrol officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department arrested a 29-year-old man wanted for felony kidnapping.

This investigation started at 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, when SLC 911 received a call from a community member at an apartment complex located near 400 West 200 North. The caller gave information about a possible protective order violation.

Officers arrived and learned there was no valid protective order in place. During their investigation, however, the officers discovered the suspect, Tony Bokomba, had an active felony kidnapping warrant.

Officers gathered resources and made a plan to take Bokomba safely into custody.

Officers located Bokomba and began giving several commands for him to come out.

Bokomba did not immediately comply with officers’ commands and resisted before being safely taken into custody.  Officers booked Bokomba into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on his kidnapping warrant and resisting arrest.

Charges are only allegations, and every arrested person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The Salt Lake City Police Department is not the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Utah Code 17-22-30 mostly prohibits the release of jail booking photos. Generally, a jail booking photo can only be released by the custodian of record after a conviction or when law enforcement determines the person is a fugitive or an imminent threat to a person or public safety. In Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the custodian of record for jail booking photos.
