SLCPD Officers Arrest Bank Robbery SuspectSALT LAKE CITY — Today, officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department arrested a 31-year-old bank robbery suspect. This investigation started at 10:07 a.m. on Wednesday February 8, 2023, when a man walked into a bank near 400 East 300 South and demanded money from employees. The man took money and walked out of the bank. No one got hurt during the robbery. At approximately 10:55 a.m., officers searching the area spotted a man matching the suspect’s description near 600 East and 400 South. After being found, the man walked into a local business where he took off a layer of clothing and left the business. Officers safely took the man into custody after a short foot chase. Detectives with the SLCPD’s Robbery and Violent Crimes Squad booked Chad Campbell into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on one count of robbery. Charges are only allegations, and every arrested person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Special agents from the Salt Lake City field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) responded to assist with the investigation. The Salt Lake City Police Department is not the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Utah Code 17-22-30 mostly prohibits the release of jail booking photos. Generally, a jail booking photo can only be released by the custodian of record after a conviction or when law enforcement determines the person is a fugitive or an imminent threat to a person or public safety. In Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Two photos from the scene are being released. Media may use these photos with proper credit to the Salt Lake City Police Department.
