SLCPD Graveyard Patrol Officers Arrest Man for Multiple Downtown Burglaries 

SALT LAKE CITY —This morning, officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department booked a 39-year-old man into jail who is accused of breaking into three offices and tried breaking into two others.

This investigation started at 11:09 p.m. on Sunday April 9, 2023, when SLC911 took a call about an alarm going off at a large office complex, located at 669 South West Temple Street. While responding, dispatchers got additional alarm triggers inside the building.

As officers searched the area, they could hear sounds of glass falling from within the complex.

Officers found Adam Thompson walking away and took him safely into custody after a brief foot chase

After reviewing surveillance footage, officers confirmed Thompson broke into three office spaces and caused significant damage while attempting to break into two others.

One of the businesses Thompson is accused of breaking into is a church. Officers recovered a computer, microphones, earbuds, mail from the church, a slim guitar which valued at more than $5,000.

The total amount of damage is still being compiled. This case will be forwarded to the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Property Crime Unit for follow up. Additional charges could be considered.

Officers booked Thompson into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on five felony counts of Burglary, two misdemeanor counts of Burglary, and three misdemeanor counts of Criminal Mischief.

Charges are only allegations, and every arrested person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The Salt Lake City Police Department is not the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Utah Code 17-22-30 mostly prohibits the release of jail booking photos. Generally, a jail booking photo can only be released by the custodian of record after a conviction or when law enforcement determines the person is a fugitive or an imminent threat to a person or public safety. In Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the custodian of record for jail booking photos.
