SLCPD Patrol Officers Arrest Robbery Suspect

SALT LAKE CITY — Officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department safely arrested a 36-year-old man who allegedly robbed a local fast-food restaurant.

This investigation started at 9:26 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023, when Salt Lake City Police officers received information about an armed robbery that just occurred.

Officers responded and learned the suspect entered the fast-food restaurant, ordered food, flashed a gun, and then stole money. The suspect left without paying for the food or physically hurting anyone.

Officers got a description of the suspect and the SUV he got away in and shared that information.

The Salt Lake City Police Department’s Crime Lab responded to process the scene at the restaurant.

Several hours later, an acting sergeant for the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Pioneer Patrol Division, recognized the suspect while investigating an unrelated case. The acting sergeant requested graveyard patrol officers start looking for the suspect.

At approximately 4 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023, officers patrolling the area of 1150 West North Temple found a person matching the suspect’s description.

Officers safely took Landan Hogan into custody without incident.

During their investigation, officers found Hogan in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Officers have booked Hogan into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail.

Charges are only allegations, and every arrested person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The Salt Lake City Police Department is not the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Utah Code 17-22-30 mostly prohibits the release of jail booking photos. Generally, a jail booking photo can only be released by the custodian of record after a conviction or when law enforcement determines the person is a fugitive or an imminent threat to a person or public safety. In Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the custodian of record for jail booking photos.
