SALT LAKE CITY —The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating a residential burglary in the East Liberty Park neighborhood.

This investigation started at approximately 3:33 pm on Sunday, January 7, 2024 when the Salt Lake City Police Department received information about  a burglary happening near  1400 South and Lincoln Street.

Initial information indicated the suspect may have had a weapon.

As officers arrived, they found a dynamic situation with several people exiting the apartment.

By the time officers arrived, the  suspect had entered the apartment and began barricading himself.

Officers set up around the apartment and started gathering additional resources. Officers also started calling out the suspect.

Around 3:50 p.m., the suspect exited and officers safely took him into custody. At this point, it is early on in the investigation. It is uncertain if a weapon was involved.
