SLCPD Investigating Shooting in Liberty Well NeighborhoodSALT LAKE CITY — Officers and detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department are investigating a shooting in the Liberty Wells neighborhood that injured a 40-year-old man. This investigation started at 7:38 pm. on Friday, January 19, 2024, when SLC911 received calls about a shooting near 180 East Kensington Avenue Officers arrived and found a man with a gunshot wound. Officers provided emergency first aid. Paramedics took the man to the hospital. The victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening at this time. Officers have determined multiple shots were fired by an unknown person or persons. At least one bullet hit a nearby house. No one inside the home was hurt. Witnesses told officers the suspect or suspects left westbound on Kensington Avenue in a car. A description of the car is not available. No arrests have been made, but based on the preliminary investigation, there does not appear to be an imminent danger to the community.
