SLCPD Investigating Theft of USPS Mail Truck, Suspect Arrested

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department, Bountiful City Police, Centerville Police, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and other law enforcement agencies are investigating the theft of a USPS mail truck.

This case is being investigated as a robbery because the suspect is accused of using a knife during the theft of the mail truck.

This investigation started at 12:51 p.m. when SLC911 got a call about a man trying to open doors to cars near 1600 West Northwood Avenue.

While responding, SLCPD officers received information that the suspect threatened a postal employee with a knife before stealing the mail truck.

The postal employee was not physically harmed.

Law enforcement in Davis County found the truck near 500 West Porter Lane in Bountiful City and took the man into custody.

Several agencies from Davis County assisted with the arrest.

No further information on this case is being released. Neither the SLCPD PIO nor the On-Duty Watch Commander are available for interviews.
