SLCPD Provides an Update on an Assault in Downtown Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is providing an update about an assault in downtown Salt Lake City that happened on March 19, 2024.

The six people injured are men, ages 17, 21, 25, 30, 32, and 35 years old.

Their names are not being released.

No arrests have been made.

The investigation is still ongoing.

This investigation began at 1:26 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, when SLC911 received multiple calls of a fight and stabbing at a funeral home, located at 372 East 100 South.

Based on the preliminary information, detectives believe several dozen people gathered at a funeral home for a viewing.

During the viewing, a fight started between individuals.

The fight escalated, which resulted in multiple people being stabbed. Some of the people hurt received injuries related to physical fighting.

Detectives are still working to determine the motive behind the incident.
