SLCPD Investigates Shooting Injuring Two People, Suspect in Custody

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that injured two people.

This investigation started at 5:19 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2024, when SLC911 received a call about someone being shot at 385 West 1700 South.

Officers responded to the scene and found two men with gunshot wounds.

Paramedics took the men to the hospital – one with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and the other with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers safely took the suspect, a man, into custody. Paramedics took him to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Based on the preliminary information, officers and detectives believe this is an isolated situation and there is no danger to the community.

Detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Robbery/Violent Crime Squad are investigating.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.

No other information is available for release. Information about the suspect will not be released unless and until he is booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail.
