SLCPD Investigating Downtown Stabbing, 1 Person Injured

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) is investigating a downtown stabbing that resulted in one person being injured.

This investigation started at 9:46 am on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, when SLC911 received a call about a man bleeding at 178 South Rio Grande Street.

Officers and paramedics arrived on scene and found a man with a stab wound. Officers on scene provided lifesaving efforts.

Paramedics transported the man to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

Based on the preliminary investigation, officers believe the stabbing happened around 200 South 500 West during an argument between two people.

After the stabbing, both the suspect and the patient walked away.

This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no reason to believe that there is a threat to our community.

No arrests have been made, and there is no suspect information to provide.

This investigation is ongoing.
