SLCPD Officers Respond to Traffic Crash, SUV Sinks into Jordan RiverSALT LAKE CITY — Today, the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) responded to a traffic crash that resulted in a SUV going into the Jordan River in the Rose Park neighborhood. This investigation started at 3:18 p.m. when SLC911 received information about a woman stuck in a SUV near 2000 North Rose Park Lane. While on the phone with the 9-1-1 caller, SLC911 learned the SUV had left the road and crashed into the Jordan River. The Salt Lake City Fire Department (SLCFD) and SLCPD officers responded. When crews arrived, the driver, a 22-year-old woman, had already climbed out a passenger side window. After crashing into the water, the SUV came to a rest on the river’s bank, which prevented it from sinking further. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Officers are investigating whether the driver may have fallen asleep behind the wheel and failed to properly maintain her lane of travel. There are no reported injuries. Two photos from the scene are being released. Media may use this photo with credit to the Salt Lake City Police Department.
