SLCPD Detectives Arrest Suspect in Alleged Aggravated Assault
SALT LAKE CITY — Detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s (SLCPD) Special Victims Unit (SVU) have arrested a 39-year-old man as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged aggravated assault.
This investigation started on February 6, 2025, when SLC911 received information about a fight in progress near 120 West 1300 South.
During the investigation, officers developed probable cause to arrest Zachary Holman based on available evidence, including video footage, which is part of the ongoing investigation.
Officers and detectives began searching for Holman after the alleged incident. Patrol officers were directed to increase their presence in the area following the alleged incident and to look for Holman.
On February 7, 2025, officers safely located Holman and took him into custody for detectives.
Based on the preliminary investigation, this appears to be a random incident.
According to court documents, it is further alleged that at the time of the alleged attack, Holman was on probation or parole.
Holman remains in custody at the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on charges that include forcible sexual abuse, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment.
Charges are only allegations, and every arrested person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The Salt Lake City Police Department is not the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Utah Code 17-22-30 mostly prohibits the release of jail booking photos. Generally, a jail booking photo can only be released by the custodian of record after a conviction or when law enforcement determines the person is a fugitive or an imminent threat to a person or public safety. In Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the custodian of record for jail booking photos.
The information contained in this news release is based on a preliminary review of the details available to the Salt Lake City Police Department. As the investigation progresses, information may change.
