SLCPD SWAT Team, Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) Make Significant Drug Seizure
SALT LAKE CITY — Today, detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s (SLCPD) Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) and SWAT Team conducted a significant drug-related investigation, resulting in more than 4,600 suspected fentanyl pills and other drugs being seized.
“Our detectives and officers work every day to combat drug-related crimes,” said Salt Lake City Police Chief Mike Brown. “These investigations are complex, time-intensive, and require a high level of coordination. I want to recognize the outstanding work of our Violent Criminal Apprehension Team and SWAT Team for their commitment to safely removing these suspected dangerous drugs from our streets.”
Preliminary estimates suggest the street value of the suspected drugs seized during this investigation to be approximately $20,000, pending confirmation.
On Thursday, February 13, 2025, VCAT detectives executed a court-authorized search warrant at a home in West Valley City as part of an active drug-investigation.
During the search warrant, VCAT detectives seized:
· 1.6 pounds of suspected methamphetamine,
· 100 grams of suspected crack cocaine.
· 89 grams of suspected heroin,
· More than 4,600 suspected fentanyl pills,
VCAT detectives also seized more than $44,000 in cash.
This investigation is ongoing. As such, no additional details are available for release.
