SLCPD Officers Arrests 56-Year-Old Man Accused of Selling Fentanyl Near Library  

SALT LAKE CITY — Officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) have safely arrested a 56-year-old man on multiple felony drug-related charges for allegedly selling fentanyl near a local library.

This investigation started around 1 p.m. on March 9, 2025, when SLCPD received a complaint about drug activity near the Day-Riverside Branch Library.

When officers arrived, they saw a man matching the description provided by the complainant trying to leave the area.

Officers stopped the suspect, later identified as Aaron Hall.

During the investigation, Hall admitted to possessing illegal substances, according to court documents.

A subsequent search revealed Hall in possession of more than 300 suspected fentanyl pills—individually packaged for distribution, about four grams of suspected methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.

Officers took Hall into custody.

During the investigation, officers learned Hall was allegedly selling the suspected fentanyl pills.

Officers booked Hall into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail for being in unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

The SLCPD remains committed to addressing illegal drug activity, including fentanyl distribution, which continues to pose a significant public health and safety risk, particularly to vulnerable populations.

Charges are only allegations, and every arrested person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The Salt Lake City Police Department is not the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Utah Code 17-22-30 mostly prohibits the release of jail booking photos. Generally, a jail booking photo can only be released by the custodian of record after a conviction or when law enforcement determines the person is a fugitive or an imminent threat to a person or public safety. In Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the custodian of record for jail booking photos.
