SLCPD Issues Amber Alert for Missing 2-Year-Old Boy, Community Help Requested

SALT LAKE CITY – Today, the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) is issuing an AMBER Alert for a missing 2-year-old boy, [NAME REMOVED], who was last seen with his non-custodial mother.

Based on preliminary information, [NAME REMOVED] was last seen wearing a black Spider-Man sweater, gray sweatpants, and black shoes.

His biological mother, [NAME REMOVED], took him around 10 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, for a temporary visit.

The temporary visit was setup through another family member.

According to the arrangement, [NAME REMOVED] was supposed to return [NAME REMOVED] by 7 p.m. on Friday but has not done so.

[NAME REMOVED] does not have legal custody of [NAME REMOVED] and has a history of drug abuse.

[NAME REMOVED] is described as 5’2″, 170-pound, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing all gray clothing and has multiple tattoos. She also has a reported history of self-harm.

There are unconfirmed allegations of possible physical abuse involving [NAME REMOVED], which may put [NAME REMOVED] at risk.

[NAME REMOVED] is possibly driving a gray Hyundai, but the license plate of the vehicle is not known.

[NAME REMOVED] was last known to be at 771 South 200 East in Salt Lake City.

Preliminary investigative information suggests [NAME REMOVED] and/or [NAME REMOVED] may be around West High School, but officers have not had a confirmed sighting.

Both [NAME REMOVED] and [NAME REMOVED] may use Spanish as their first language.

The SLCPD is actively searching for [NAME REMOVED] and [NAME REMOVED] and urges anyone with information on them to call 9-1-1.

Media staging is at 700 South 200 East. A Public Information Officer (PIO) is headed to the scene.

An AMBER Alert is an emergency notification system used to quickly send out information about a child abduction to the public. The goal of an AMBER Alert is to inform community members about the search and aid in the safe recovery of the child by providing critical details through media broadcasts, highway signs, and digital alerts.

AMBER Alerts are issued only when specific criteria are met, including confirmation of an abduction, the child being under 18, a belief that the child is in imminent danger, and sufficient information being available to assist in locating the child and suspect.

Upon activation of an AMBER Alert, SLCPD detectives trained in child abductions are notified and work alongside patrol officers to investigate the case.

These detectives bring specialized expertise in child recovery efforts, making sure a coordinated and thorough response. Detectives help in collecting evidence, develop leads, and work with state and federal partners, as necessary, to safely find the missing child as quickly as possible.
