SLCPD Bike Officers Arrest 36-Year-Old Man Accused of Drug Distribution Near Jordan River TrailSALT LAKE CITY — As part of the Salt Lake City Police Department’s ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal activity along the Jordan River Trail and to help restore community safety, officers with the SLCPD’s Bike Squad safely arrested a 36-year-old man who is accused of drug distribution near the Jordan River Trail. This investigation started around 11 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025, when a SLCPD bike officer watched a group gather around 36-year-old Alexander James Hall near Redwood Road and North Star Drive. According to court documents, officers saw him engaged in activity consistent with drug distribution. As officers approached, the group dispersed. Hall tried leaving and crossed the street illegally, according to court documents. Officers stopped and detained him. During the investigation, officers recovered fentanyl pills packaged in small bindles, along with methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and cash. According to court documents, Hall admitted to selling fentanyl. Officers booked Hall into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. Fentanyl remains one of the most dangerous drugs in our community. This case reflects the SLCPD’s proactive enforcement and our commitment to public safety. Charges are only allegations, and every arrested person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The Salt Lake City Police Department is not the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Utah Code 17-22-30 mostly prohibits the release of jail booking photos. Generally, a jail booking photo can only be released by the custodian of record after a conviction or when law enforcement determines the person is a fugitive or an imminent threat to a person or public safety. In Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Alt The information contained in this news release is based on a preliminary review of the details available to the Salt Lake City Police Department. As the investigation progresses, information may change. ### |
