SLCPD Supports Rose Park Baseball Opening Day with Enhanced Community Engagement and Public Safety Efforts

SALT LAKE CITY — Today, the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) proudly supported opening day of Rose Park Baseball at Riverside Park.

This event marks a significant celebration for the Rose Park community, emphasizing the importance of safe, accessible, and vibrant public spaces for families and youth.

“This is truly a magical place,” said Salt Lake City Council Member Victoria Petro, who represents Council District 1. “I am so thrilled that I am getting to raise my kids here. This is a place where the rest of us can raise our kids and where baseball can still be played safely. I am so thankful to our Salt Lake City police officers. They are here for you and this community.”

“These community events are opportunities for us to come together to support these great kids,” said Salt Lake City Police Chief Brian Redd. “The Salt Lake City Police Department is proud to be a part of this community and to continue to support Rose Park and Rose Park baseball, which is celebrating 70 remarkable years.”

In alignment with the SLCPD’s commitment to community safety and trust-building and the Mayor’s Public Safety Plan, the SLCPD has implemented enhanced patrol operations in the Rose Park area, including the Jordan River Trail and at parks such as Riverside Park.

Additional patrols and focus areas include downtown and the Ballpark neighborhood.

These efforts are focused on deterring criminal activity while promoting positive interactions between officers and community members.

“Our presence at community events like this underscores our dedication to creating a safe and healthy environment for Salt Lake City,” Chief Redd added.

The SLCPD recognizes public safety is a collaborative effort.

We encourage community members to actively participate by reporting any suspicious activity.

Being an alert and involved neighbor helps the SLCPD maintain the safety and wellness of our city.

Rose Park Baseball is a community-driven, volunteer-run league dedicated to providing a fun, competitive, and supportive environment for young athletes ages 4-15.

As part of Cal Ripken & Babe Ruth Baseball, the league offers divisions for all skill levels, from tee ball for beginners to Babe Ruth for competitive play.
