SLCPD Urges Safety, Neighborhood Respect Ahead of Kilby Block Party

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) is partnering with Salt Lake City Emergency Management, the Salt Lake City Fire Department and others, to help ensure public safety during the upcoming Kilby Block Party.

The four-day music festival, held May 15–18, 2025, at the Utah State Fairpark, is expected to attract between 15,000 and 20,000 attendees each day.

While the event is not expected to significantly impact the city overall, residents and businesses near the Utah State Fairpark should anticipate a noticeable increase in traffic and pedestrian activity.

Emergency management and public safety teams have developed coordinated plans to respond to any incident that could pose a risk to the safety of participants, spectators, and the surrounding community.

Tips for Festival Attendees:

·       Know your surroundings and report illegal or suspicious activity to event security, the SLCPD officers on scene, or by calling 9-1-1, or 801-799-3000—the non-emergency line.

·       Follow directions from event staff, signage, and emergency personnel.

·       Drink responsibly and stay hydrated.

·       Use designated pick-up and drop-off zones to reduce congestion.

·       Consider public transportation or rideshare to avoid parking difficulties.

·       Secure or remove all valuables and lock vehicles, if parking nearby.

The SLCPD is also asking all attendees to respect the Fairpark neighborhood by keeping noise levels down when arriving and leaving the event, properly dispose of trash in designated bins, avoiding trespassing on private property, and following all posted parking restrictions and traffic regulations.

SLCPD officers will maintain a visible presence throughout the event to manage traffic control, enforce safety measures, and help ensure a positive experience for attendees and residents.

The SLCPD thanks our community for working together to make Kilby Block Party safe, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone.
