SLCPD Monitoring Global Developments, Reaffirms Local Safety Efforts
SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is carefully following developments in the Middle East and evaluating any potential impacts on public safety in our city.
Over the weekend, the department reached out to local Jewish and Islamic leaders to offer assistance and reiterate our commitment to open communication. We also emphasized our ongoing threat assessment efforts.
The Salt Lake City Police Department has already increased public-safety measures and communication around places of worship, cultural centers, and community events. Additionally, the Salt Lake City Police Department is receiving information and updates from the Utah Statewide Information and Analysis Center (SIAC) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to ensure a quick response to any potential threat.
“The strength of our community is measured by how we build unity and respond to hate,” said Salt Lake City Police Chief Brian Redd. “When we work together, we protect and strengthen our community. Everyone in Utah deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued.”
If community members see or hear something suspicious, call our non-emergency line at 801-799-3000. In an emergency, call 911.
