SLCPD Reminds Community Members About Weekend Street ClosuresSALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) is reminding community members about several road closures occurring this weekend in downtown. The Utah Pride Festival will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025, and conclude at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025. The event will be held in and around Washington Square. Several roads near the City and County Building will be fully closed or will have reduced lanes of traffic, including 200 East between 400 South and 500 South, which is currently closed as crews set up. An estimated thousands of people are expected to attend the Utah Pride Festival over the two-day event. As such, drivers are reminded to take additional precautions. To avoid additional congestion, community members are encouraged to carpool, use public transportation or a rideshare service. On Sunday, June 8, 2025, the annual Pride Parade will start at 10 a.m. at 100 South West Temple Street. The Salt Lake City Police Department recognizes our responsibility to investigate hate crimes thoroughly and impartially to hold offenders accountable and help ensure justice for survivors. The Salt Lake City Police Department educates its officers and detectives and works with our community to recognize, and condemn, hate crimes, and works to prevent them from occurring in the future. The Department is a part of the “Community Partners Against Hate” initiative that brings city, regional, and state leaders together to condemn hate. The effects of a hate crime can be harmful and long-lasting for both the individual victim and the larger community. If you are the survivor of a hate crime or witness a hate crime, it is important to report it to the appropriate authorities so the case can be investigated, and support and resources offered.
