SLCPD Detectives Arrest 54-Year-Old Man for Murder

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) is investigating a deadly crash at 2200 West 1250 North. This investigation began at approximately 8:17 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, when SLC911 received calls about a crash. Officers from the SLCPD Pioneer Patrol Division, Salt Lake City Fire, and Gold Cross responded and found a crash involving an SUV and a front-end loader construction vehicle. The SUV was Northbound on 2200 West in an active construction zone when the SUV collided with a front-end loader. The driver of the SUV, Brian Johnson (19), was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries and later succumbed to those injuries. No other injuries were reported. The scene has been processed by the Salt Lake City Police Department’s CAR (Crash Analysis Reconstruction) team. The scene has since been cleared and there are no traffic delays, however this area continues to be an active construction zone. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
