SLCPD Investigating Shooting, One Person Dead
SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation at 130 South and 800 West.
This investigation started at approximately 9:22 a.m. on Sunday January 23, 2022, at the above listed location, when SLC911 received information about a possible shooting.
Officers quickly arrived and located an adult victim with a gunshot wound. Officers and paramedics provided immediate live-saving efforts but the victim died on scene.
No information about the victim is being released at this time pending next-of-kin notifications.
Additional officers arrived and began searching the area for any other victims, suspects and began securing the crime scene.
At this time, no arrests have been made.
Through the preliminary investigation, it appears this is an isolated incident and there is no imminent danger to the public.
Detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Homicide Squad have responded to the scene.
Additionally, members from the department’s Crime Lab Unit have responded to assist with the investigation.
An SLCPD PIO is on scene and will be able to brief media until 12:30 p.m. on January 23, 2022. The media staging location is at 100 South and 800 West.
After 12:30 p.m., the PIO will not be available for interviews and media will need contact PolicePRUnit@slcgov.com, but no interviews can be guaranteed.
