SLCPD Detectives Arrest 20-Year-Old Man; Seize Firearms, Drugs
SALT LAKE CITY — Detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s (SLCPD) Gang Unit have safely arrested a 20-year-old man who is accused of being in unlawful possession of drugs and firearms.
Detectives identified the man as 20-year-old Lyjah Fritz.
This investigation started in 2024, when detectives received information about Fritz allegedly distributing drugs and being in illegal possession of a firearm.
At approximately 1 a.m. on February 27, 2025, detectives executed two court-authorized search warrants.
The SLCPD SWAT Team served one of the warrants at 6810 South 345 East in Midvale, Utah.
The West Valley City Police Department SWAT Team served the second warrant at 3974 West Ridgecrest Drive in Taylorsville, Utah.
During their investigation, detectives found two guns, seven pounds of suspected marijuana, more than 300 THC cartridges, nearly a pound of dab marijuana, ammunition, and $1,645 in cash.
Officers took Fritz to Salt Lake County Metro Jail and booked him on charges of being in unlawful possession of a firearm by a restricted person and distribution of controlled substance.
Charges are only allegations, and every arrested person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The Salt Lake City Police Department is not the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Utah Code 17-22-30 mostly prohibits the release of jail booking photos. Generally, a jail booking photo can only be released by the custodian of record after a conviction or when law enforcement determines the person is a fugitive or an imminent threat to a person or public safety. In Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the custodian of record for jail booking photos.
The information contained in this news release is based on a preliminary review of the details available to the Salt Lake City Police Department. As the investigation progresses, information may change.
