If you require an officer to respond but it isn’t an emergency, call this number. The non-emergency phone number keeps our 911 phone lines open to help those who require an emergency response. You also may want to check out our online reporting options, which generally are good for cases that have no suspect information and no injuries but require a police report for insurance purposes.

Find the Appropriate Contact to Make a Request

The public is invited to attend a scheduled Scouting presentation and/or participate in a tour of the Public Safety Building the third Wednesday of each month. Classes will be held starting at 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. sharp.

There is a limit of 21 participants per class, including supervision of 1 adult per six children.

To request a tour, send an email to slcpdoutreach@slcgov.com with the following information:

  • Full Name

  • Date and time of request
  • How many people will be on the tour? (Children and adults)

To reserve the PSB Community Rooms, send an email to psbcommroomres@slcgov.com.

If you are a caregiver for someone who may wander due to autism or another disability, please consider adding them to the Special Needs Registry by calling (801) 799-3111 or using the online form. Please provide the following information on each individual:

  • Full name
  • Address, including apartment number
  • Date of birth
  • Guardian’s name and phone number
  • Any other pertinent information

You may only register individuals who live in Salt Lake City. The information will be entered into our database for use by emergency responders only.

Background Clearance

Background Clearance for a Juvenile

If you plan to hold a block party in Salt Lake City, you must first obtain a block party permit. Please visit: https://www.slc.gov/eventpermits/special-event-permit-instructions/ to submit your application.

If you would like SLCPD to attend your community event, please send an email to slcpdoutreach@slcgov.com three weeks prior to your event with the following details:

  • Full name
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address
  • Event details, including name of event, time, place and specifics of request.

Requests will be accommodated as resources and policy allow.

Anyone over 18 years old may request a ride-along. The Salt Lake City Police Department will try to honor your request, but the date and hours will be determined by the department. Each individual will be limited to one 4-hour ride-along which will begin no earlier than 7 a.m. and shall end no later than 1 a.m. Civilian or non-sworn ride-alongs with or without a concealed carry permit may NOT be armed.

To request a ride-along, please download the request form and:

    1. Fill out top portion of the form, all highlighted lines must be completed.
    2. Print off the form and return to:

    3. When submitting your form, you will be asked for your ID to verify your identity. The desk officer will then require you to sign and date the waiver.

To request enforcement in your area, send us an email: slcpdmotor@slcgov.com. Be sure to include the following:

  • Address of traffic issue
  • Nature of traffic issue (e.g., speeding, cars that run stop lights or red lights, crosswalk issues, etc.)
  • General time issue occurs
  • Phone number or email address if you’d like a response from an officer
