SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department seeks the public’s help to identify and locate a man suspected of stealing a bike and car in recent weeks.
Investigators believe the suspect has a universal remote that gives him access to secure parking garages. He may also be using a lock-out kit to access vehicles and steal them or items inside them.
The man is a suspect in at least five cases, with photos or video available in the following two incidents:
- May 26, 2014: The suspect stole a bicycle from a parking garage at 115 S. 1100 E., case #14-801714 (see video).
- May 31, 2014: The suspect stole a vehicle from the parking garage at 960 E. 100 S. 5:00-6:00 a.m., case #14-88073 (see photo). The stolen vehicle was identified as a black 2008 Subaru Tribeca, which officers later recovered in the Avenues neighborhood.
Suspect description:
- white male
- 20-35 years of age
- wearing a white jacket, black hat and black backpack
