SLCPD Identifies Remains from Homicide

SALT LAKE CITY — SLCPD Homicide Detectives have positively identified the remains of Jose Ignacio Valdez-Guzman, aka “Nacho”, DOB 07/30/1976, who was the victim of a homicide and whose remains were recovered at 799 South Chestnut Street on November 18^th, 2017. Valdez-Guzman had been reported missing by family members on June 29^th 2012.

Salt Lake City Police received numerous tips from the public regarding a possible identity of the remains, leading them to discover the victim’s identity. The investigation revealed that Valdez-Guzman was killed in 2012 and Carlos Trevizo (56) has been charged with his murder. The Salt Lake City Police Department encourages anyone that has additional information on Valdez-Guzman or Carlos Trevizo to please contact police.
