SLCPD Investigating Hit & Run Crash, Requesting Help Finding SUV, People Involved

SALT LAKE CITY — Detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Hit & Run Squad are asking for help from our community to identify the people involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a 41-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries.

This investigation started at 1:31 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, when SLC911 took a call about someone down on the ground in the parking lot needing help behind 1472 South State Street.

Officers, nearby on an unrelated call for service, found the woman with life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics took the woman to the hospital where she remains in stable condition.

No other information about the woman is available for release.

During the investigation, officers and detectives learned that at approximately 12:45 a.m. on June 14, 2024, the driver of a light-colored Ford Explorer pulled into the parking lot and ran over the woman.

Detectives believe the woman was already on the ground prior to the crash but was not previously injured.

Two people from the SUV got out and checked on the woman but got back in the SUV and left the scene.

The SUV detectives are looking for is described as possibly being a newer model, light-colored Ford Explorer with a panoramic sunroof, and chrome/silver wheels.

Anyone with information about this SUV, the crash, or the people associated with the SUV should call 801-799-3000 and reference case 24-130079.

Several photos and a video of the SUV leaving the scene are being released. Media may use this material with credit to the Salt Lake City Police Department.

The woman in the hospital does not want to speak with the media and is requesting privacy.
