SLCPD Detectives Arrest Stabbing SuspectSALT LAKE CITY — Today, the Salt Lake City Police Department is announcing the arrest of a 55-year-old man accused of stabbing and critically injuring a 55-year-old man. The suspect is identified as Roozbehi Abdolrasool. When officers arrived on scene, they found the 55-year-old man with critical injuries from a knife and quickly performed lifesaving measures. Based on the preliminary investigation, this was an isolated incident. Both men are known to each other and had an ongoing conflict prior to the stabbing. Paramedics took the 55-year-old man to the hospital in critical condition. The man’s injuries are still considered critical, but he is stable. Around 11 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Auto Theft Unit found Abdolrasool driving a car near Gertie Avenue and Redwood Road and safely took him into custody. Officers booked Abdolrasool into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on a single count of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Charges are only allegations, and every arrested person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The Salt Lake City Police Department is not the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Utah Code 17-22-30 mostly prohibits the release of jail booking photos. Generally, a jail booking photo can only be released by the custodian of record after a conviction or when law enforcement determines the person is a fugitive or an imminent threat to a person or public safety. In Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the custodian of record for jail booking photos. The information contained in this news release is based on a preliminary review of the details available to the Salt Lake City Police Department. As the investigation progresses, information may change. ### |
