SLCPD Officers Safely Arrest Two Men Accused of Stealing Car at Gunpoint

SALT LAKE CITY — Officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Central Patrol Division have safely arrested two men who are accused of stealing a car at gunpoint.

The suspects are identified as 18-year-old Michael Manuelito and 21-year-old Nicholas Reddye.

There were no injuries reported during this incident.

This investigation started at 1:58 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, when SLC911 received information about a reported carjacking near 210 West 500 South.

According to preliminary reports, the suspects allegedly approached the victims and made threatening statements before demanding their car.

The victims got away safely, but the suspects drove off in the stolen car.

Officers later found the car and the suspects near 700 South 400 East.

Officers safely arrested Manuelito.

Following a brief foot chase, officers safely arrested Reddye.

Officers took both suspects to the Salt Lake County Metro Jail.

Officers booked Manuelito on suspicion of aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of a financial card, and theft of a motor vehicle.

Officers booked Reddye on suspicion of aggravated robbery and failure to stop at the command of law enforcement.

Charges are only allegations, and every arrested person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The Salt Lake City Police Department is not the custodian of record for jail booking photos. Utah Code 17-22-30 mostly prohibits the release of jail booking photos. Generally, a jail booking photo can only be released by the custodian of record after a conviction or when law enforcement determines the person is a fugitive or an imminent threat to a person or public safety. In Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the custodian of record for jail booking photos.

The information contained in this news release is based on a preliminary review of the details available to the Salt Lake City Police Department. As the investigation progresses, information may change.
